The Development and Validation of Expert Systems for Predicting Toxicity

چکیده
This is the report of the twenty-fourth of a series of workshops organised by the European Centre for the Validation of Alternative Methods (ECVAM). ECVAMs main goal, as defined in 1993 by its Scientific Advisory Committee, is to promote the scientific and regulatory acceptance of alternative methods which are of importance to the biosciences and which reduce, refine or replace the use of laboratory animals. One of the first priorities set by ECVAM was the implementation of procedures which would enable it to become well-informed about the state-of-the-art of non-animal test development and validation, and the potential for the possible incorporation of alternative tests into regulatory procedures. It was decided that this would be best achieved by the organisation of ECVAM workshops on specific topics, at which small groups of invited experts would review the current status of various types of tests and their potential uses, and make recommendations about the best ways forward (1). The joint ECVAM/ECB (European Chemicals Bureau) workshop on The Development and Validation of Expert Systems for Predicting Toxicity was held in Angera, Italy, on 14 October 1996, under the chairmanship of John Dearden (Liverpool John Moores University, Liverpool, UK). The workshop participants reviewed the current status of a variety of systems for predicting toxicity, focusing primarily on the prediction of endpoints relevant to mammalian (including The Development and Validation of Expert Systems for Predicting Toxicity

متن کاملDeveloping a fuzzy expert system to predict technology commercialization success
A majority of efforts in terms of technology commercialization have failed; however, the issue of commercialization and its high importance are agreed upon by policymakers, entrepreneurs, and researchers. This shows the high complexity of the commercialization process. One of the main solutions to overcome the commercialization problems is to predict the success of technology commercialization ...
متن کاملDeveloping an Expert System for Diabetics Treatment Advices
Today, expert systems are widely applied in medicine for prognosis, diagnosis, checkup, and treatment of various kinds of diseases. A comprehensive system for the checkup and treatment of different types of diabetes is still lacking. This paper reports development of such a system, its validation, and its utility in facilitating medical decision-making and supporting self-care.
متن کاملA Fuzzy Expert System for Predicting the Performance of Switched Reluctance Motor
In this paper a fuzzy expert system for predicting the performance of a switched reluctance motor has been developed. The design vector consists of design parameters, and output performance variables are efficiency and torque ripple. An accurate analysis program based on Improved Magnetic Equivalent Circuit (IMEC) method has been used to generate the input-output data. These input-output data i...
